About the Area
Esk Valley News is produced in the Esk Valley, near Whitby, in the North York Moors National Park. This is an area of hidden valleys, heather moorland, ancient woodland and a stunning heritage coastline.

Click here to see a short film. Heritage Coast![]() The North Yorkshire and Cleveland Heritage Coast is 36 miles long and stretches from Saltburn down to Scalby Ness near Scarborough. It encompasses some of the UK’s most rugged and charming countryside, from tiny fishing villages clinging to rocky cliffs to glorious stretches of white sand and family-friendly seaside resorts.

The Esk Valley![]() The River Esk, in the northern part of the North York Moors National Park, runs through some of the most spectacular landscape in the UK. Rising on Westerdale Moor, the river flows through the valley of Eskdale (the 'Esk Valley') to Whitby, a course of around 28 miles.
