Loftus Bluebell Walk with

Loftus Accord Walking Group

Come on a guided walk to spot Bluebells and other Spring flowers in bloom. Starting from Loftus Town Hall, this walk takes you through local woods. You need a good level of fitness for this circular walk of about six miles that includes stiles, descents and climbs. We shall stop for light refreshments in Handale Abbey walled garden.

Meet: outside Loftus Town Hall (TS13 4HG) at 10.30am

Parking/buses: free parking off the market place at South View car park off North Road, Loftus TS13 4JL; the town is served by Arriva X4 and 5 buses

Terrain: be prepared for muddy conditions

Cleveland Street Trail with

Loftus Accord Walking Group

From Loftus Town Hall we follow the monastic route from Loftus to Guisborough Priory. This is a linear walk of about 9 miles and we will return by service bus to Loftus. Please bring light refreshments for a stop in North Skelton.

Meet: outside Loftus Town Hall (TS13 4HG) for 10.30 start

Parking/buses: free parking off the market place at South View car park off North Road, Loftus TS13 4JL; the town is served by Arriva X4 and 5 buses

Terrain: wear suitable clothing and footwear for off-road walking

Nature Recovery at Bank House Farm,
Glaisdale – Tour with Chris Padmore

Chris will show you nature recovery projects on the farm, including hedging, wildlife ponds, planting and other projects in the pipeline.

Art Workshop with award-winning environmental artist James Owen Thomas

James is a COP26 One Step Greener Ambassador and a Tree Council, Force For Nature Ambassador as well as Artist in Residence for Whitewoods Wellbeing. At this workshop he will explore the craft skills and artistic approaches needed to create collage using recycled material, highlighting nature and the importance of protecting the environment. Guided Tour of a Forest Garden & Ancient Woodland with Botanist Anne Press

A Forest Garden is a nature-rich garden using principles of permaculture. If you’d like to do something for nature recovery, this is a good example. It can be described as an ‘ARK’ (Act of Restorative Kindness) from the international ARK movement (https://wearetheark.org).

Anne will meet us at the Church and take us on a tour of her ‘Forest Garden’ developed over 40 years – giving tips on how to create your own ARK. Followed by a nature visit to nearby ancient woodland and a churchyard with rare plants. Maximum 12 people.

Meet:  St Andrew’s Church, 2pm, Ingleby Greenhow (near Great Ayton)

Parking: At village hall or on the road. Visitors might like to lunch at The Dudley Arms (pub or coffee shop) and use their car park.

Creative Breathwork with

Tom Woodfin from Perception Architecture

Tom will lead us through breathing and tapping techniques that will help us understand and regulate negative emotions particularly associated with the climate crisis and threats to nature. He will focus on breathing to help with feelings such as grief, guilt, helplessness and anger and teach techniques and share resources that we can use to help ourselves feel more positive and motivated to act to support nature recovery.

Tour of Loftus historic centre with Loftus Accord Walking Group

Join us on a tour of the town, tracing its history from modern mining developments through the industrial revolution with influences from the nobility, castles, abbeys and archaeological  evidence of dwellings and commercial salt production dating from 3,800 BC.
